For anglers who were carp fishing during the late 1990s and 2000s, Baitstream was a familiar name in the bait world. Trading as Baitstream Ltd, the company built a loyal following by producing a range of boilies, hookbaits, particles and bait additives aimed at the dedicated carp angler.
Founded in 1998, Baitstream operated for almost two decades and became known for supplying quality carp baits directly to anglers. While it never grew to the size of brands such as Mainline or Nashbait, it established a solid reputation among those looking for consistent, proven bait without the huge marketing campaigns of some of the larger companies.
Like many independent bait firms, Baitstream relied heavily on word of mouth, catch results and repeat custom. The company remained active throughout the 2000s and into the mid-2010s, during a period when the carp bait market became increasingly competitive, with dozens of new manufacturers entering the scene.
The end came in 2017, when Baitstream Ltd applied to be voluntarily struck off the Companies Register. The company was officially dissolved on 5 September 2017, bringing nearly 20 years of trading to a close.
Although the business is no longer around, plenty of anglers still remember Baitstream as one of the many respected independent bait companies that helped shape the UK carp fishing scene before social media and influencer marketing became the norm.
