Waders have become standard equipment for many carp anglers.
They’re useful for landing fish, positioning rigs, photographing catches safely in shallow margins and retrieving equipment where appropriate.
The Trakker N2 Chest Waders are a straightforward heavy-duty nylon/PVC design with adjustable waist straps, elasticated braces, an internal pocket and PVC boots.
That simplicity is part of the appeal.
PVC-style waders aren’t as sophisticated or breathable as expensive technical waders, but for carp fishing you’re often only wearing them for relatively short periods.
They’re also considerably less expensive.
Fit matters.
Oversized boots are horrible to walk in and undersized waders can restrict movement when you’re crouching to net a fish.
One important safety point: don’t assume wearing waders makes deep water safe.
Check depth before entering.
Be extremely careful around drop-offs and soft silt.
And don’t wade simply because you’ve seen somebody else do it from that swim.
Used sensibly, a pair of N2s can be one of the most useful pieces of kit in the bivvy.
