I just finished watching Tom Stokes’ latest video from his trip to Waterside Fishery, and I had to share it.
For those who haven’t tracked the news yet, Neil Spooner actually landed the British Record Carp (the Big Common) at the start of their joint trip while filming for Cypography! Because the film crew packed up early after the historic catch, Tom was left with the ultimate dream scenario: the entire lake completely to himself for three nights.
Even though the record fish had just been bank-side days prior, Tom decided to stay on and vlog the rest of his session. It pays off with some seriously intense footage. He manages to locate the record common multiple times in the margins, and at one point, he gets crazy close-up footage of the giant flanking right over his bait. You can practically hear his heart pounding through the screen!
He didn’t get the fairytale double-capture on the record, but he ended up bagging a personal lake-best 31.5 lb common along with some stunning, characterful old scaly mirrors.
Definitely worth a watch if you love high-stakes margin fishing and tracking massive carp in clear water. Has anyone else fished Waterside recently?
