Toby Smashes His PB Twice in Two Sessions!
Sixteen-year-old Suffolk angler Toby Kitchen is having a run of sessions he’ll never forget, smashing his personal best on back-to-back trips to a private lake.
After landing an impressive 35lb 14oz mirror on his previous visit, Toby returned full of confidence and managed to go one better, banking an incredible 38lb 2oz scaly mirror to set yet another new PB.
Fishing a 30-hour session, Toby wasn’t in a rush to get his rods out, knowing the lake’s bites usually came during the night or early morning. Once settled, he positioned one rod in the margins and fished the other two at 10.5 wraps onto a clear spot amongst the weed.
His baiting approach consisted of around ten spods of 12mm and 15mm DNA Baits Bug boilies, 8mm pellets, hemp, snails, all topped off with Bug Hydro Spod Syrup.
The first night produced only a couple of bream, but at around 9am the following morning everything changed when his right-hand rod ripped off. After a tense battle that saw the fish find nearby snags, Toby ended up wading into the water to regain control. Once the fish finally slid over the net cord, he knew he’d landed something truly special.
The scales settled at 38lb 2oz, beating the PB he’d only set on his previous trip.
It’s a fantastic achievement for the young angler and a reminder that persistence, confidence and sticking to a plan can pay off in a big way. Massive congratulations to Toby on an incredible run of form—we’re looking forward to seeing what he catches next!
