John Harrop made an impressive start to life on The Dell syndicate, landing eight carp from 10 bites during just his second session on the famous Essex water.
The standout capture was one of the lake’s most sought-after residents, The Pretty One, a stunning mirror carp weighing 37lb 2oz.
Travelling all the way from Lytham, John arrived with no fixed plan other than to locate a few fish and begin learning the venue.
After spotting some early signs of activity, he introduced a few kilos of Secret 7 into a clear hole in the weed before deciding not to fish on his first night after the long drive.
The following day brought a couple of carp in the low twenties, prompting him to top the area up with more Secret 7. The decision paid off the next day when The Pretty One slipped over the cord at 37lb 2oz, capping off an excellent session.
All eight carp were caught using DNA BAITS Secret 7 Corker wafters fished over mixed-size Secret 7 boilies soaked in S7 Liquid Food.
