"I’d known about that fish for years, but never really made it my target. Once it pushed past the 35kg mark though, everything changed. That’s when I knew I wanted to catch it.
With the amount of pressure the lake receives, I didn’t want to be fishing for it all the time. Instead, I waited for the right opportunity rather than trying to force the issue. There was one corner of the lake where I’d seen the fish earlier in the spring, and eventually I decided to put all my focus into that area.
After just two days, everything came together. The Black Mirror finally slipped up at an incredible 37.8kg. It was a truly unforgettable capture and a reminder that, in carp fishing, patience, confidence and perfect timing often make all the difference."
