Modern bait boats contain motors, batteries, electronics, radio systems and moving hopper mechanisms.
Eventually something can go wrong.
With RidgeMonkey Hunter boats, as with any bait boat, the first step is identifying whether a problem is electrical, mechanical or related to the controller.
If the boat won’t power up, start with the obvious.
Check battery charge and connection.
Inspect connectors for moisture or corrosion.
Confirm the handset is charged and paired correctly.
If one motor behaves differently from the other, check for weed, line or debris around the propulsion system before assuming the electronics have failed.
Hopper problems can sometimes be mechanical rather than electronic, particularly if bait has become trapped around the mechanism.
Don’t open sealed electronic areas unnecessarily if the boat remains under warranty.
Water resistance depends on seals staying intact.
And before sending any bait boat 150 yards across a lake after a repair, test it repeatedly in the margins first.
