Tungsten putty is one of those little bits of tackle you don’t think much about until you use a bad one. We’ve tried plenty over the years, and some become soft and sticky in warm weather, while others simply refuse to stay where you put them.
The OMC Blend Putty has impressed us from the first session.
The consistency is spot on. It’s soft enough to mould around your hooklink with ease but firm enough that it stays exactly where you put it. Even during warmer weather it doesn’t turn into the sticky mess that some other tungsten putties become, which is a big plus if you’re regularly adjusting rigs on the bank.
It’s also very dense, so you only need a small amount to achieve the desired weight. Whether you’re pinning down the last few inches of your hooklink or fine-tuning the balance of a pop-up, it does the job perfectly without needing to use loads of putty.
Another thing we like is the colour. The natural earthy tones blend in well with most lakebeds, helping to keep your presentation as discreet as possible.
Overall, this has become one of those products we automatically reach for. It simply works, and once you’ve found a tungsten putty that stays in place and performs consistently, there’s little reason to switch.
