A Must-Have for Chod Rig Anglers
If, like me, you spend a lot of time fishing over weed, you’ll know just how important it is to keep chod rigs and hinged stiff rigs in perfect condition. The Korda Chodsafe has become one of those bits of tackle I simply wouldn’t head to the bank without.
Mine stays loaded with a selection of pre-tied rigs, meaning I can swap presentations in seconds without worrying about damaging them. The two different diameter storage sections are a brilliant idea, allowing me to store both shorter chod rigs and longer hinged stiff rigs while maintaining the correct curve. Every rig comes out exactly as it went in, ready to fish.
The aluminium bar and retaining pins do an excellent job of keeping everything secure. Even after bouncing around in my rucksack or barrow, the rigs stay neatly in place and, more importantly, the hook points remain protected.
One feature I use more than I expected is the pop-up steaming handle. It makes shaping rigs incredibly simple and keeps your fingers safely away from the steam while you’re getting the curve just right. It’s a small touch, but one that shows plenty of thought has gone into the design.
Build quality is excellent overall. The Chodsafe feels solid and has survived years of being thrown into bags, dropped on the bank and generally abused without any issues. My only criticism is that the outer finish marks quite easily. It picks up scratches over time, but it’s purely cosmetic and doesn’t affect how it performs.
For anyone who regularly fishes chod rigs or hinged stiff rigs, it’s one of those accessories that quickly becomes indispensable.

The Korda Chodsafe is one of the best storage solutions available for chod and hinged stiff rigs. It keeps rigs perfectly shaped, protects hook points and makes transporting pre-tied rigs effortless. Although the exterior can scratch quite easily, the build quality, practical design and ease of use more than make up for it.
