Korda has launched a brand-new Essentials range, aimed at anglers who want reliable tackle without the premium price tag or any unnecessary bells and whistles.
The new range will effectively become the new home for many products currently sold under the BASIX name, while also introducing several completely new items.
And looking at the prices, Korda certainly appears to be targeting the more affordable end of the market.
One of the biggest additions is a new selection of hooks, all priced at just £2.99 a packet.
Korda Essentials hooks:
Krank X – £2.99
A strong wide-gape pattern featuring an offset point and black nickel finish. It’s a hook pattern already trusted by the likes of Tom Dove and Neil Spooner.

Korda says that over the coming months more products will gradually move across from the BASIX range into Korda Essentials.
So, if you’re already using BASIX gear, it doesn’t necessarily mean those products are being discontinued. In many cases they’ll simply be repackaged and sold under the new Essentials branding.
Danny Fairbrass summed up the thinking behind the range as:
“It’s all the gear you need and nothing that you don’t.”
With hooks coming in at £2.99, it’s certainly an interesting move from Korda at a time when the price of carp tackle seems to be heading in the opposite direction.
