A Compact Pod That Does the Job
I’ve been using the Jag Prolite Nano Micro Pod for quite a while now on a mixture of banksides, from soft ground to wooden platforms, and it’s become one of those bits of kit I don’t really think about anymore—it just works.
One feature that really stands out is the holes built into the feet. If you’re fishing from wooden platforms or swims where you can use screws or pegs, you can anchor the pod down properly. Once it’s fixed in place, it doesn’t move, even when you’re tightening clutches or dealing with a hard take. It’s a small design feature, but one that makes a big difference.
The only downside is the initial setup. Like many adjustable pods, it can take a bit of tweaking to get everything sitting perfectly level, especially if you’re setting up on uneven ground or you’re trying to get the rods out quickly. It’s not difficult, just a little time-consuming. Once you’ve got it dialled in though, it’s incredibly solid and doesn’t need touching again.
Visually, it’s one of the nicest-looking pods on the market in my opinion. The compact design looks superb with 9ft, 10ft or even 12ft rods, giving a really tidy, low-profile setup. If you regularly use 13ft rods, though, they do look slightly oversized on the Nano Pod and don’t quite suit its proportions.
The build quality is exactly what you’d expect from Jag. Mine has seen plenty of use over the years, been packed away countless times, sat on gravel, wood and concrete, and it’s still in fantastic condition. It has picked up very few marks, everything still operates smoothly, and it feels like it’ll last for many more seasons.
Overall
If you’re after a lightweight, premium-quality rod pod that offers excellent stability and superb build quality, the Jag Prolite Nano Micro Pod is a fantastic choice. The ability to secure it to wooden platforms is a genuine advantage, and once it’s set up it’s rock solid. It isn’t the quickest pod to level perfectly, and I’d probably look elsewhere if I only used 13ft rods, but for most carp anglers it’s an excellent investment that should last for years.
