Free Spirit Hi-S rods have had a strong reputation for years, particularly among anglers who like high-quality blanks and a more refined feel.
The 10ft versions are interesting because they combine that premium build with the convenience of shorter rods.
For smaller waters, they make loads of sense.
They are easier to transport, easier to manoeuvre in tight swims and generally nicer to use when fishing close to snags or margins.
The real question is whether you lose much performance compared with the traditional 12ft versions.
At normal ranges, probably not much at all.
A good 10ft rod should still cast more than far enough for most UK waters.
Where you will notice the shorter length is at extreme distance.
If you regularly fish 120 yards plus, the 12ft versions are probably going to be more suitable.
For everyday fishing, though, shorter premium rods could be the sweet spot.
They also tend to feel brilliant when playing fish.
