Billy's Lake Delivers Again – Another 40lb+ Mirror on the Bank!

Billy’s Lake continues to cement its reputation as one of the UK’s most exciting big carp venues, with yet another incredible forty making an appearance.

This stunning, currently unnamed mirror carp tipped the scales at an impressive 42lb 10oz, marking only the second capture of the fish this year. It’s another sign that the lake is producing some truly exceptional carp.

The lucky captor was regular visitor Robert Carroll, who has built a reputation for consistently finding the fish whenever he visits the complex. Once again, his approach paid off with a session to remember.

Rob caught the fish from Swim 21, fishing a short-range spot just 12 wraps towards Swim 6. His baiting strategy was straightforward but clearly effective, using a mix of sweetcorn, house pellet, Iso Fish crumb and Iso Fish Smart Liquid to draw the carp into the area.

For the rig, Rob relied on a spinner rig paired with two pieces of slow-sinking corn—a simple presentation that continues to account for some of Billy’s biggest residents.

Billy’s Lake has been on incredible form this season, with a growing number of fish breaking the 30lb barrier and several confirmed 40-pounders now residing in the lake.

The big question is… what else is swimming around in there? :eyes:

We already know of at least three different carp over the magical 40lb mark, but with catches like this continuing to surface, you can’t help but wonder if there are even more undiscovered giants waiting to be caught.

Have you fished Billy’s Lake this season? Do you think there’s an even bigger fish still hiding beneath the surface? Let us know your thoughts below!
