Best Bite Alarms - Our opinion

Here’s our current take on the best bite alarms on the market. As always, this is based on real-world use and our own opinions—every angler has their favourites, so we’d love to hear yours too.

The Best 5 Carp Bite Alarms in 2026 – Our Picks

Bite alarms are one of those bits of kit that anglers get incredibly passionate about. Ask ten carp anglers which alarms are best and you’ll probably get ten different answers.

After using most of the big names over the years, here’s how we’d rank our top five.

:1st_place_medal: 1. Nash Siren R3

For us, the Nash Siren R3 sits comfortably at the top of the list.

The biggest reason? Reliability.

These things are absolute tanks. They take rain, mud, knocks, cold weather and just keep going. The battery life is outstanding, they’re simple to use, and they don’t try to overcomplicate things with endless menus and settings.

When you’re sat behind the rods for several nights, you just want to know your alarms are going to work every single time.

That’s exactly what the R3+ does.

If you’re buying alarms to last years rather than just a season, these would be our choice every time.

:2nd_place_medal: 2. Fox Micron RX+

Fox have produced quality alarms for decades and the RX+ range continues that tradition.

Excellent receiver range, solid build quality and very dependable in all conditions. They might not have quite the cult following of some other brands, but they’re incredibly well-engineered and have proven themselves over many years.

:3rd_place_medal: 3. Delkim TXi-D

This might surprise a few people.

Delkims are legendary, and there’s no denying they have some of the best bite detection available thanks to their vibration sensing system rather than a traditional roller wheel.

However, in our opinion, they’ve also had their share of reliability complaints over the years. Some anglers report years of faultless use, while others have experienced issues such as water ingress or reliability problems, so experiences can vary.

They’re still fantastic alarms—but for us they just don’t edge out the Nash R3+ on overall dependability.

4. Steve Neville

Steve Neville alarms have almost become iconic in carp fishing.

The sound of a screaming Neville is something many anglers absolutely love, and they’re beautifully simple with very little to go wrong.

The only downside we’ve seen over the years is that the cases around the threaded mounting can be prone to cracking if they’re knocked or overtightened, something that’s been mentioned by anglers for years.

If that issue was eliminated they’d probably be even higher on our list.

5. Gardner ATTs

ATTs don’t always get the attention they deserve.

They’re lightweight, simple, reliable and ideal if you prefer a no-nonsense alarm that simply gets on with the job.

They’ve built a loyal following over the years and remain an excellent option for anglers who don’t need dozens of features.

There really isn’t a bad alarm among the top manufacturers these days. Most premium alarms will serve you well if looked after.

That said, if we were spending our own money today, our order would be:

  1. Nash Siren R3

  2. Fox Micron RX+

  3. Delkim TXi-D

  4. Steve Neville

  5. Gardner ATTs

The Nash R3+ simply ticks every box for us. Robust, dependable, excellent battery life and the sort of alarms you can forget about because they just work.

What are you fishing with?

Would your top five be different? Are you Team Delkim, Fox, Nash or something else entirely?
