The Scope concept is built around reducing transport length.
Applying that to a spod rod makes perfect sense if the rest of your setup is already compact.
A traditional 12ft spod rod can become the one awkward full-length item in an otherwise tidy short-rod setup.
A retractable Scope-style spod rod solves that.
The important question is performance.
Spodding puts a lot of repeated load through a rod.
You’re casting heavy loaded Spombs again and again, so power and recovery matter.
For moderate ranges, a compact spod rod can be extremely convenient.
If you’re trying to put bait 150 yards repeatedly, I’d still look closely at full-length specialist distance rods.
Also match the rod to the weight of baiting device you actually use.
A little Dot Spod and a huge loaded large Spomb aren’t remotely the same demand.
Anyone running a complete Scope setup including the spod rod?
