JRC barrow: a sensible alternative to the expensive options?

You don’t need a £1,000 powered barrow to move carp tackle around a lake.

JRC has produced several straightforward fishing barrows aimed at anglers who want something functional without paying premium Carp Porter money.

The biggest thing with any barrow is balance.

A badly loaded barrow puts far too much weight through your arms.

A properly balanced one allows the wheel to carry most of the load.

When comparing JRC barrows with alternatives from Fox, Nash, Trakker and Carp Porter, I’d look at:

Wheel width.

Frame strength.

Handle adjustment.

Overall weight.

How small it folds.

And whether the bags or side supports you need are included.

Tyre choice matters more than many people realise.

A narrow hard tyre can be horrible across mud and soft ground.

A wider pneumatic-style tyre spreads the load much better.

For anglers doing normal weekend sessions, a conventional JRC barrow may be all that’s genuinely needed.

Anyone running a JRC barrow long-term? How has it held up?
