It’s one of the debates that come round every year in carp fishing…
Do the phases of the moon actually affect how we catch carp, or is it all just coincidence? 
Some anglers won’t book a session without checking the lunar calendar first. They swear that a full moon or new moon can trigger feeding spells and lead to more captures, especially of the bigger, older fish.
Others think it’s complete nonsense.
There are certainly plenty of stories of incredible catches during full moon periods, but there are just as many anglers who have blanked under a bright moon while others have had red-letter sessions during the first or last quarter.
The reality is that it’s difficult to separate the moon from all the other factors that influence carp behaviour:

Wind direction -
Water temperature -
Air pressure -
Weather fronts -
Natural food availability -
Angling pressure -
Simply being on the fish!
Some fisheries and anglers keep detailed catch records and believe there are patterns around lunar cycles, while scientific evidence linking moon phases directly to carp feeding behaviour remains limited.
